Bangalore Mirror Features Ari Jayaprakash(KuruShetra)

Chronicles of Aghoris

Ari Jayaprakash’s album KuruShetra beams a hitherto unknown ‘sound’ experience

As you click on the play button and a song from KuruShetra starts to waft, you begin to wonder if the sounds are actually coming from the speakers or way beyond from a realm you have never been before. There are sounds that most of us have heard and there are sounds that only a chosen few have experienced. KuruShetra, the album “resembling the other side”, offers you the unknown sounds. The Kuru Circus and Orchestra is in the process of making music, inspired by the upcoming novellascape ‘The Kuru Chronicles’. The band comprises Ari Jayaprakash and session musicians.
The Kuru Circus is a combination of musical and creative entities from different genres and streams. The soundscape is vast and includes newly-invented genres of Aghor Psytrance, Indo Goth, Naga Post Punk and others,” says Ari. For those who don’t have the slightest clue of what Ari is saying, a little ‘flashback’ will reveal it all. KuruShetra is a Rock Opera album. The music is inspired by  'The Kuru Chronicles'.

The Kuru Chronicles is a novellascape set in a dystopian Calcutta (of the future).  The novel was inspired by the city of Calcutta where Ari has spent the last couple of years, the spiritual concepts of the Vedas, the left-hand path of the Aghoris and various other cinematic, musical and visual influences that he has had over the years.

The album will be out in February 2012.
